Reflection and goals for the new semester
Looking back at last semester I am pleased with the progress I have made. I think my grasp of Japanese grammar has improved a lot, and as a result I am able to read extended passages of simple Japanese with relative ease. Given that my goal is to learn to read Japanese academic books and articles, I will continue to practice reading regularly.
I will be studying Intermediate Japanese this summer at Harvard's summer program in Cambridge, and when I return to Princeton in the Fall I will enroll in the Japanese reading course. In order to prepare for these challenges, I will continue to read passages from the textbook and from Japanese websites and articles and will also continue to practice the new grammar structures we learn every week.

Reflecting on last semester, overall I am pleased with my progress in Japanese. My Japanese vocabulary has grown steadily, and I have learned increasingly complex grammatical constructions. I was happy with my performance in the final exam, and I'm looking forward to furthering my Japanese language studies this semester.
Although I have a very busy schedule this semester, I will try to find time wherever possible to practice and review the vocabulary and grammar covered in class, as well as reading ahead beforehand to make sure I get the most out of my class time. I will continue to talk as often as possible with my Japanese friends, and will make sure that I meet with my teachers regularly to get feedback and practice speaking one-on-one.
In addition, I plan to focus on my listening this semester; practicing shadowing and completing listening exercises from the textbook as often as possible.
