Over the past 7 weeks I have worked hard to improve my Japanese as quickly as possible, and overall I am pleased with the progress that I've made. Reviewing vocabulary, reading aloud from the textbook, doing shadowing exercises, and chatting with Japanese friends have all helped me improve my confidence in speaking, and I try to do these things as often as possible. As a result, I think I have improved my speed when speaking Japanese, as well as my intonation and precision, although I still have difficulty when speaking Japanese for extended periods of time, for example when doing shadowing.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to attend the Japanese Language Table this semester because of prior commitments, which is a shame because I really would like to practice talking with Japanese native speakers as often as possible. To make up for this, I originally set myself the goal of making regular appointments to meet with my Japanese teachers one-on-one to practice speaking Japanese. I'm disappointed that I haven't yet found the time to do this, and this remains one of my goals for the rest of this semester.

In addition, I have also set myself new goals for Japanese 101. I want to keep reviewing vocab and reading aloud from the textbook, as well as having basic conversations with my Japanese friends as often as possible, but I also want to do more shadowing practices to improve my pronunciation (particularly my intonation). I think these are realistic goals that will help me improve my Japanese, and I'm looking forward to the rest of this semester!
